Rumford Center | East Providence Economic Development

Purchased in 2006 by PK Rumford LLC, the old Chemical Works mill buildings have been transformed into a mixed use development accommodating a mix of apartments, office space, retail shops and restaurants.

The Rumford Center began in 1856 as Rumford Chemical Works, producing and shipping baking powder across the nation and around the world. Rumford Chemical eventually moved and over time, the various mill buildings on the property fell into disrepair. To say that this property has transformed this section of Rumford is an understatement. In addition to the fully occupied residential apartments within the former primary mill building (Building 3), Rumford Center offers a variety of service and retail experiences, including fine dining at Avenue N American Kitchen and a popular gathering spot for coffee, pastries and artisan breads at Seven Stars Bakery.
